Virtual Emergency Pet Food Drive
Tax deductible
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Denton Animal Support Foundation (DASF) and the City of Denton Animal Shelter (DAS) partnered together to set up a temporary Emergency Pet Food Pantry at the Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center for those facing income insecurity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. By providing pet food and supplies for those in need during challenging financial times, we offer a reasonable alternative to surrendering – or worse – abandoning a family pet.
The DAS/DASF Emergency Food Pantry has made a huge difference for those affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Providing people with access to free pet food and supplies has provided much needed financial relief for Denton pet owners. Many of these pet owners would have gone without food themselves before letting their pets go hungry. Since March the food pantry has fed over 3,000 pets and has led to an 86% decrease in owner surrenders to the animal shelter.
As the pandemic continues into the holiday season, pet owners are needing help more than ever. Please consider donating to the Virtual Emergency Pet Food Drive this holiday season and help us reach our goal of $500! Any donation amount will help keep food on the table and supplies on deck for pet owners, and their pets. Your generosity will help prevent animals from being abandoned or surrendered due to the owner's inability to afford food and supplies for their animals.
If you are in need of emergency pet food, please call the shelter to schedule an appointment (940) [phone redacted].
