Justice for Lermont Stowers-Jones

Donation protected

Can you imagine finding out that your son's death was the result of a racially motivated murder?

Can you imagine then finding out that instead of conducting a thorough investigation, local authorities covered up evidence and conspired to hide your child's murder in order to avoid news reports of a racially motivated murder in the community?

This is the story of Lermont-Stowers Jones, a bright young student of Denton High School who was murdered in late November of 2018.

Mont deserves justice. His family deserves a legitimate investigation into his death, and they deserve to see the authorities who failed them held accountable.

Contribute to their cause and help us get them the legal representation they so desperately need and deserve.

Please take the time to read the full story of Mont's murder, and the cover up that followed and share it on all of your social media platforms.

* This Fundraiser was organzized by Jessica Luther Rummel. Jessica is a well known community activist and Chair of the Denton County, TX NAACP Community Coordination Comittee, and a McNair scholar currently earning her Doctorate in Philosophy at the University of North Texas. As the family's trusted community advocate and friend, Lermon Jones and Amy Stowers-Jones, parents of Lermont Stowers-Jones have entrusted fundraising management, including collection and dissemination of all funds for necessary expenses for this investigation to Jessica Luther Rummel.

Thus far, funds raised have been used to faciliate necessary expenses to keep the family safe, including their forced relocation after persistent harassment by local authorities for their resilience and determination to pursue justice for their son Mont. Some funds have also been used to assist the family with additional financial hardships encurred as a result of the county's failure to afford them victim support services.

As of January 2021, funds have been allocated towards the hiring of a team of private investigators and forensics specialists to review the evidence aquiredover the course of the last year and a half. The family hopes that the results of this independent investigation will lead to enough envidence to pursue civil action and perhaps criminal charges against Denton County for their egregious mishandling of Mont's death investigation.
