Jason was diagnosed with Stage 4  Metastatic Cancer in May of 2018. Jason and his wife made a  trip to the ER at Memorial Hospital in Savannah with symptoms of  a possible stroke ended up with a predetermined diagnosis of Brain Cancer. Ten tumors have been found in his brain, tumors are in  his lungs, lymph nodes, and  hip bone. The largest tumor in the brain has grown to an inoperable size and within two days of finding the tumors, Jason had to start daily whole brain radiation treatments.  A biopsy of the lung tumor found the source to be Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma. Oncology is predicting a course of immunotherapy to combat the additional spread of the cancer. We are working as a team to raise the funds to help offset the cost of treatments as well as maintain the needs of his family and home.  Due to the midline shift that the large tumor has created, Jason is occasionally experiencing confustion and the inability to communicate effectively.
Jason , employed by Terminix, struggles daily with the inability to come back to work fulltime at this moment. He misses his coworkers and customers. Jason has overcome alot in his lifetime. When he was 24 he was involved in an accident at Georgia Ports when a crane swung and knocked him 42 feet into a hole. He had 11 back surgeries and qualified for full disability, but wouldn't take it so he could rehabilitate and go back to work. At the age of 32, while working as a land surveyor, he was burned over 19% of his body with 3rd degree burns. Jason is a true fighter.
The internet gives a prognosis of anywhere from 6-22 months for anyone diagnosed with this Stage of Cancer. The longterm prognosis is 15-20% of those diagnosed make it to the 5 year mark after diagnosis. We are devastated, but willing to fight the odds with the help of those that have been touched by Jason's kindness . He is a father of 3 adult children, a stepfather of 4 children , and with his wife, Naomi, shares the love of 5 grandchildren.
Our goal is for Jason to be able to maintain as normal a life as possible.
There are clinical trials that they are in the process of applying to .
" Muscles against Melanoma" is a good way to describe Jason's battle with this difficult news and the family and his friends greatly appreciate any help that can help him live as long as possible.
