Evie's End to End Cycle Challenge Fundraiser

Donation protected

"Hello. My name is Evie Everett-Kelway. I am 13 years old and would like to make a difference to the lives of children in Kenya who are living in poverty by volunteering in local community schools to help give them a better education and  improved learning environment."

THE CAUSE --

'Our aim is to increase opportunity within education, enabling young people to positively influence their future pathways' - AFRICAN ADVENTURES FOUNDATION

In July 2021, Evie and 44 other like minded students from Tiverton High School will be heading for Nakuru, Kenya with the organisation African Adventures. There they will be aiding local community school projects, volunteering with everything from classroom support and P.E lessons to building maintainance and improvements.

The African Adventures Foundation is a registered charity which provides support to 26 different community projects in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.

THE AIM --

In order to secure their place, all participating students are actively encouraged (by both the organisation and the school) to fundraise both individually and in groups towards the cost of their travel, board and lodging ( £2,565 per pupil).

To date Evie has been involved in packing shopping bags at the local Supermarket, cake stalls at local community events and also a homemade fudge stall at a food and craft fair.

With plenty more still to raise, Evie is gearing up for a new fundraising challenge.

THE CHALLENGE --

At the end of July Evie and I will be attempting to cycle our tandem the full length of the UK, from Lands End to John O'Groats.

We are hoping to complete the 950 mile (approximately) route over 3 weeks, mostly self sufficient but with occasional support from friends and family to help carry our camping kit.

Obviously we are mindful of the unusual times we find ourselves in and will be taking every care to keep our route and stop overs away from densely populated areas where possible.
We will keep a close eye on the general situation and guidlines and be prepared to adapt our itinerary or even postpone in a worst case scenario.

All going well we aim to arrive at John O'Groats around the 9th August.

We are conscious that the events of this year have meant a great deal of financial hardship for so many people and we remain realistic in terms how much money we are likely to raise.  For that same reason we are so so grateful to anyone and everyone who takes the time to donate, share or support Evie in this challenge.

Thank you for your support.
