Personal Art Residency Travel Fund

COVID-10 ruined my plans to spend time at artist residencies this year - there's still next year, but I need both summers for this wonderful project I'm working on. If you know me, you know that I have a passion for nature, spiritualism, and Michigan. I want to combine these loves into a book and oracle deck - working name "Spiritual Michigan." The book will cover spiritual and magical aspects of all things Michigan, form Petoskey stones and great lakes to lighthouses and white pines. And, for each thing covered in the book, there will be a matching oracle card. My plan for the cards is to create the work with mixed media collage (my favorite form of art). They will include photos by me, art (sharpie, colored pencils, acrylic paint, and gel pens), stuff from nature (sand, found stones and shells, leaves, and more), and digital stuff too. Why do I need your help? Well, I won't be getting a free place to stay with no residencies open this year, so I'd like spend some time road-tripping around the state getting pictures, sketching, and taking it all in (and taking notes). I wanted to apply for some artist/writer travel grants, but the deadlines are long gone. so, I need your help. I'm stashing away the money I make at Wally's for some trips, but it's not enough. Here's a breakdown of what I'll be doing with the funds: The first $60 covers the purchase of a mobile hotspot and service for it so that I can keep earning money from my job while I'm away from home. The rest covers gas in the car, meals & drinks, any park or attraction fees, any extra art supplies I'm missing, and some extra for emergencies. I'll be sharing all of my adventures on Insta while I'm on the trip (https://www.instagram.com/theartofdreamsanddivination/). I will be hauling all of my art supplies with me so that I don't miss out when creativity strikes. As money comes in, I will share updates with what I am doing with the money (like ordering my hotspot, scheduling plans, renting rooms, etc.). Thanks for your help! I can't wait to get on the road!
