OTE DANCE STUDIO 2020 RECOVERY CAMPAIGN

Donation protected
We want to start by saying that we love and miss everyone -- from our studio dancers, company members, teachers, staff, families, friends, neighbors, and colleagues!  We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy during these troubling times! We are determined to get through this! Stay positive, everyone!

We are one of the millions of businesses that have been shut down due to the ongoing pandemic. For the past three months, we have maintained a positive outlook and responded to this situation by creating online classes and resources to allow our students to feel connected and still have a creative outlet while remaining isolated at home. All of the classes have been great, and we enjoy virtually dancing with everyone. However, the reality is that we do not have the number of dancers participating in these classes that would need to generate enough regular income to cover the studio’s operating costs. .

So this brings us to where we are today. We were incredibly hopeful that we would receive some financial support from the SBA, but unfortunately, we were not approved for any national grants. Right after we received news of no funding, we experienced what many would consider a gut punch. The studio was broken into and burglarized, and we lost equipment and items that will need to be replaced before we open back up. Although we have received an outpouring of love and support, we still have a lot of work ahead of us.

To be transparent, the margins on our business are very slim, and the expenses we pay to keep the studio running are high. Our savings have run out, and we are now very nearly depleted.  We've carefully considered the fundraising amount, which reflects the bare minimum of what it would take to help us recoup some of the lost revenue and what we will need to survive over the next few months.

We understand that everyone is feeling uncertain at this time, so please only give if you are able to.  Any contribution will help. If you can't contribute monetarily, simply sharing this campaign would be more than appreciated.

We are proud to be a black and woman-owned small business in Los Angeles and to continue our mission to provide a creative and supportive environment where students can receive a dance education, explore personal expression, and build self-confidence.  We don't know what the future of OTE will look like, but we believe that our community will help us make it through to make sure that we have an even stronger dance family when we all get back to the studio. As always, please be kind to one another, continue to take classes when you can, check-in on each other, and now more than ever support the people and places that you love so that we can all make it to the other side of this pandemic together. Stay Safe & Stay Healthy! We love and miss you all!
