Help Single Mom & 3 Kids Who Survived House Fire

Donation protected

Early in the morning of Friday, July 10, Lisa Celestina and her 3 kids were trapped in their rental apartment when a fire started on the front porch (the usual way to exit the house). Through a series of miracles, they all came out alive via a window in the back and *mostly* unharmed.

But they have some challenges ahead. While they have housing until Wednesday, July 15, they will need a home after that. Due to the trauma (and time to repair fire damage to the home), it will be likely that an entirely different home is best for their situation. It looks like much of their clothing and some other items from the home can be salvaged, but they will be starting over in some ways.

My best estimate of what will be needed to rebuild their lives with a solid foundation is a minimum of $10,000. But I hope we can come together as a community to do more.

BEST WAYS TO HELP NOW:

1/ Donate and/or share this GoFundMe.

2/ Be on the lookout for housing appropriate for their family (Mom Lisa, Alondra aka “Loni” who is 3, Samantha who is 7, and her older brother Michael who is 9).

3/ Please do not donate clothing or household items at this time, as Lisa is in the process of seeing what they need and what can be salvaged. The first priority right now is housing and to ease the financial burden.

EXTRA NOTES:

I (Éva) have created this GoFundMe as a friend who knows Lisa’s big heart and knows that we can come together to help. While you can see my contact details on this page as the organizer, I personally will not see a penny of the fund. 100% goes to Lisa and her family.

The MV Times reported on the fire here >> https://www.mvtimes.com/.../tisbury-firefighters-snuff.../

Two of Lisa’s kids have special needs, and their family has already been through some challenges. Lisa herself is an incredible human who works as a caregiver and truly puts the “CARE” into the word. Now I hope we can do what we can bless her and her family in the best ways we can. Their lives are WORTHY OF MIRACLES, as all of ours are, but in this moment they need another miracle to find and obtain safe, secure, and happy housing at the height of summer on island.

Thank you for sharing, donating, and caring about Lisa and her family!

EDITED TO ADD: While her kids do not need medical attention (from what we can tell), Lisa did also suffer from some burns and will need several visits off island for skin grafting. So of course that will be a priority in addition to housing. (You can see in the photo from this morning, that it's her right hand that was burned. We're sparing you the gory photos from before initial treatment.)
