Turning Angel Restoration - Secure Our Cemetery

The Turning Angel is the signature monument of the Natchez City Cemetery, and became an international celebrity when Natchez writer Greg Iles titled a best-selling book in its honor. The angel keeps watch over five rounded tombstones, uniform and in a row, all with the same date of death. These tombstones tell of lives cut short when there was an explosion at the Natchez Drug Company: Luella Booth, 17, Ada White, 19, Mary Worthy, 12, Inez Netterville, 17, and Carrie Murray, 22, all young women who lost their lives in the explosion.

On Tuesday, June 23, 2020 the Turning Angel was heavily damaged. Vandals came into the cemetery in the middle of the night and pushed her off her base to the ground.
The Natchez City Cemetery is working to have The Turning Angel repaired.

Our goal is to complete a full restoration.  Once this is complete, the Turning Angel can continue to watch over all lost lives in our cemetery and remain a symbol of love and hope for those who visit.

We would use all money donated to fully repair the Turning Angel and secure our cemetery from future vandalism.
