Sittingbourne First Responders in case you don’t know what Community First Responders (CFRs) do, are members of the local community who volunteer to respond to emergency life threatening calls through the 999 system in conjunction with our Ambulance Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB) our NHS. Community First Responders provide care to patients within the local community before the arrival of the ambulance service , we are trained by SECAMB to deliver lifesaving interventions and defibrillations to patients in cardiac arrest increasing the patients chance of survival. In an ideal world, there would be an ambulance available on every street corner in each town or village, but sadly this is not the case. Therefore, Community First Responders are vital resources to the ambulance service and the community we service..............what we do really does make a difference!!

We have 5 responders within our team, each responder, responders to incidents from either their home or work location up to a 5miles radius using their own vehicles - we serve a wide community, our group name suggests "Sittingbourne" but this is just our Ambulance station base. We cover a vast area in support of our ambulance service that is so precious to us all, in total we cover 21 parish councils, these are; Bapchild, Bobbing, Borden, Bredgar, Doddington, Hartlip, Iwade, Kensley, Kingsdown, Lower Halstow, Lynsted, Milton Regis, Milstead, Murston,  Newington, Rodmersham, Sittingbourne, Teynham, Tonge, Tunstall & Upchurch.

As a non-profit voluntary group we solely rely on donations and receive no funding from the Government or SECAMB, therefore, we are reaching out to the local communities & businesses to ask you for your help and support in any financial contribution, no matter how big or small - every donation really does make a real difference. The set up costs for a new responder is approx. £2,500, training equipment and ongoing costs are extremely high, we run local CPR & AED sessions to the public for free, so it is vital we gain support from our local  communities & businesses so that we can continue to make a real difference in the lives of so many.

We currently have 2 new responders undertaking their training with South East Coast Ambulance Service and are fundraising for their new responder kits.
