Stark's Park to Tannadice Walk

Donation protected
As fans are aware, Raith Rovers - through no fault of our own - have been drawn into the legal action taken against the SPFL to reverse the decision taken by the vast majority of member clubs to bring an early close to Season 19/20 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

There was never going to be a solution that satisfied everyone, but 81% of clubs agreed with the motion - one that was considered to cause the least harm to the fewest clubs. More importantly, this was to draw a line under the previous season so that we could concentrate our attention on the huge challenges ahead.

Three clubs - ourselves, Dundee United and Cove Rangers - now face uncertainty about their own positions, and have been forced to defend themselves to prevent this motion being reversed. This has put a tremendous financial strain on the clubs which - along with every other club in the country - are trying to chart a way forward through these most challenging of times.

To help fund this action, ourselves, Dundee United and Cove Rangers will be undertaking a series of walks  to connect their home grounds to demonstrate our joint commitment to defending ourselves and the decision reached by all the clubs. Choosing to back down at this point would set a very dangerous precedent in which legal action becomes a preferred option to settle footballing disputes.

For our part, to encourage donations for our legal defence, I will be leading a group of hardy volunteers from Stark's Park on a walk north where we will meet up at Tannadice Park in Dundee with supporters of Cove Rangers and Dundee United who are embarking on similar lengthy journeys. This will take place on Saturday 18th July.

We are appealing to fans who are in a position to contribute to support this joint endeavour.

We hope that this difficult time for Scottish Football can be resolved soon, so that we can all move on to the important task of finding ways through the current health crisis and then working together to build a prosperous future for the game we all love.

Thank you for your support.

Note:
Due to the recent advice issued by Police Scotland regarding concerns surrounding the proposed route we were left with no option but to change our plans regarding our walk. The health and safety of our supporters is paramount. We will now be walking from the Tay Bridge to Tannadice. We shall meet up with the other groups in a display of mutual solidarity. We wish all those walking good luck, no blisters and fair weather
