Early Wednesday morning, Matt & Lovelyn Palm and their 11 children were victims of a home invasion in Uganda, East Africa where they live and serve the local community. A large gang of men entered in the night and a battle for their lives ensued. Matt and Lovelyn, along with their two oldest children, refused to let the invaders near their younger children and physically stopped them from entering further into their home. They were successful and so incredibly brave! Unfortunately, they did not walk away unharmed. Both Matt and Lovelyn are currently in the hospital receiving care for multiple serious injuries and recovering from 3 emergency, reparative surgeries from their wounds. The older children have been treated and are well and safe. The younger children are safe & secure.
The Palms were scheduled to be back in the States months ago, but chose to stay in Uganda and care for their neighbors during the Covid-19 shutdown. Often times their ministry, Shine Village Initiative, has been the only source of medical transportation, care, and food for over 2500 families. Their choice to stay saved lives, no doubt, but in doing so they gave up their flights and financial security to serve. Now, we get serve them.
Both their physical and emotional recovery will best be met in their US home. We need to bring them home.
Due to Covid-19, Ugandan borders are completely shut down and only allowing few repatriation flights out. These flights are expensive, $1975 a ticket.
This GoFundMe is to purchase 13 tickets home, pay their current medical bills (you must pay with cash before you leave!) and resettle them back in to their home with the medical and emotional therapies needed as soon as possible.
Update! The Palms are LOVED!!!! Watching people pour out their love has been incredible! We set the financial goal to get them started knowing that it would be just that, a start but we are ok AND cheering that amount being exceeded!
