Recovery fundraiser for Dani Paulson

Donation protected
Dear friends,

I am reaching out to you on behalf of Dani Paulson. To know Dani is to sense her kind, helpful, supportive nature. She is also a phenomenally strong and resilient human being. Dani is currently recovering from an exceptionally terrible car crash. Her community can identify people who can help, collect some key items she needs, and raise critical funds to get her through a very challenging time.

Just four years ago, Dani fought off a stranger who broke into her house and attacked and tried to kill her. She was half his size and asleep, but she fought hard and survived. She endured powerful PTSD and had to go through years battling the legal system to ensure he was sentenced for this horrific crime.

“Perseverance” is Dani’s middle name. She rebuilt her life. Last year she met a wonderful man; they fell in love, got engaged, and were building a new life together in Fredericksburg. She hoped to open a restaurant and start a family.

In May Dani was in a horrific car crash. Her fiancé did not survive, and Dani nearly died, too. She was in a coma for almost a week and has broken bones in her neck, clavicle, ribs and pelvis, among numerous severe injuries. She required open heart surgery. It’s an absolute miracle she is here, and astonishing that six weeks later she was able to be released from the hospital. But she still has a long road to recovery.

Her friends and all who are compelled by her story have the opportunity to rally and help her recover and rebuild. She has no money and is unable to work, and she needs physical and occupational therapy. She is still processing her injuries and the loss of her partner and figuring out her path forward in the exceptional landscape of 2020.

The goals of this outreach are to raise critically needed funds so she can get a safe place to live and begin getting the care and supplies she needs. We can build a community network to secure her the other supports she needs, including physical and occupational therapy and guidance. She also needs most everything for basic living, including hygiene items and some basic household necessities. And even clothing; she is 5’8, slender, and needs items that are versatile, comfy, and easy to put on; size 9 shoes are needed and appreciated too.

Dani has survived several awful life incidents. If you are moved by her situation, please join Team Dani help! Donate today; spread the word about this fundraiser and encourage others to donate; and if you have a skill set that could help her recovery, volunteer and help that way as well.

You may contact team coordinator Brewster at [email redacted] or 703/508-4418 as he is developing a database of people and what they can do or share. He also has the list of places where donations can be dropped off or mailed.

Together, Team Dani can help a great human who is in need in an especially trying time. Thank you for your interest! The community's support has been so strong, we are bumping our  goal from $5,000 to $8,000. Spreading the word will bolster our potential.
