Green Burial Ground in New Denver, BC

Donation protected
We are seeking your support for an exciting new project proposed by the Green Burial Ground organizing committee, under the umbrella of Carpenter Creek Last Wishes Society. We are dedicated to creating a peaceful, natural, green burial ground, a place for reflection, integrated into the ecology of the north Slocan Valley.

We are seeing a growing demand in our region for green burials.  Green burial is attractive to people mindful of the cyclical nature of life, who would like to see  their body returned to earth to decompose naturally.  These burials contribute to renewed life on earth and minimize the impact on local and global environments.

We are part of a growing movement: advocating for green burials , encouraging community-centred death-caring in rural BC, and establishing naturally green forested areas  dedicated to conservation and remembrance .
Check out the inspiring Denman Island Natural Burial Ground!

We would like to know your level of interest , via this easy to fill out survey .

In September 2020 a resident of our area came forward to offer a piece of land for the future Green Burial Ground.  We are extremely grateful that this land has been offered.  It may take up to 2 years to complete the necessary legal requirements (subdivision, tests, permits).

Your contribution, large or small, is tremendously appreciated. The approximate expenses are included below.

We are currently a committee of five people, bringing momentum and energy to the work at hand. We welcome more interested people to join us.

This will be a significant addition to our community:  a peaceful, inspiring, serene  place to say farewell to our loved ones.  Many of us strive to live in a sustainable, authentic way in connection with nature.

Imagine in due time, the community coming together in work parties, planting, making paths and places to contemplate our lives and those gone before us.

Any amount, however small or large, will contribute to this vision. You can make a convenient and easy donation online right here, or send a check to Carpenter Creek Last Wishes Society by mail, or send an e-transfer to [email redacted]  .

Note: those interested in tax deductible receipts, we are in the process of getting a charitable status to make this possible.  Please let us know if this is an issue for you.

In gratitude,
Carpenter Creek Green Burial Committee
