Hello! My name is Arieanna Morehead and I am a BLM activist and high school student from Portland, OR. This past summer I have dedicated all my time and energy to Fridays4Freedom, a youth collective organizing protests every Friday in support of the movement for Black Lives. This work has been inspiring to me because I am able to work on the front lines of change and be in community with other young people who are dedicating their lives to the movement for Black Lives Matter. I hope that with this pageant, I can use my experiences as an activist to inspire other young Black girls as well.
It has always been a dream of mine to be in a pageant. My home town, Portland, is the whitest major city in America and there are not many Black pageant queens here. Growing up, there weren’t many role models for myself to look up to, who embodied the confidence and inner-beauty that Pageant queens often possess. I have recently found this mentorship through Arya Morman, Ms. Black Oregon International Ambassador.
The Ms. Black International Ambassadors Pageant isn’t a normal pageant, it’s an inclusive pageant dedicated to uplifting and inspiring young Black girls everywhere.
When I heard about Miss Black International Ambassadors, I knew this was my chance to achieve a life dream of mine. MBIA is a pageant for African-American women to share their stories and make change. Without hesitation, I applied for the Teen division and recently got accepted! With these funds, I will be able to pay for my sponsorships, my crown and sash, wardrobe, air fare, and other expenses along the way. All/any donations are greatly appreciated.
