Arya’s Mass Tumor Surgery

Arya started to develop a small lump on her mammary gland towards the end of June. Her vet told us that she has mammary cancer, and that the tumor would need to be taken out for further investigation. We had a procedure set up, but, when we brought her in, he took a look at her and confirmed our fears. The tumor had spread to another gland, and he felt unfit to perform the surgery and provide adequate aftercare. He referred us to an animal hospital (VSC in Leesburg),  where they would be able to remove ALL of her mammary glands and preserve enough skin on her stomach to keep her comfortable and safe, while still ensuring it wouldn’t spread even more. They would also need to house her for a few days to recover, as this is extremely invasive surgery. Of course, this will come at no easy cost; the estimate is between 5 and 6 thousand dollars for multiple mass removals. We feel a lot of guilt asking for help during a worldwide pandemic, but we would also feel so heartbroken if we were unable to help Arya because of tight finances. We want the best for her, as she is the brightest light in our eyes. She has the chonkiest cheeks, sweetest demeanor, and, amidst everything going on in the world, we aren’t ready to lose Arya.
