To all my family and friends,
As many of you know, I have the continuous privilege of teaching special education in the southeast region of North Carolina serving students across the community. The community that I have built between my students, their families, and my colleagues has been a necessary support system through the good and bad times that have headlined the 2019-2020 school year. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to continue working in my school community and watch as my students grow academically and into young adults.
However, to say that 2020 has been chaotic is an understatement. The COVID-19 pandemic has opened my eyes to the reality of my surroundings and how truly blessed I am for all the individuals and opportunities I have had in my life. Though I am extremely aware that this narrative does not apply to everyone. Many of my loved ones struggled through unemployment and adapting to the quarantine lifestyle. The majority of my students had to finish the school year learning through paper packets.
With the start of the 2020-2021 school year creeping up, our school district has decided to begin the year with the remote learning option. This poses quite a few challenges for us as teachers, and as families prepare to transition back to "normal life". The more I begin to plan and decipher how to effectively teach my students this year, I have come to realize that I need your help!
Your generosity will contribute to my students' success and development through their academic journey this school year. We are raising the next generation to be released into contributing members of society. Ensuring that their academic and educational journey is as successful and opportunistic as possible is my main goal. I truly believe that every student will learn and succeed if they are given the proper opportunities and support from those nearest to them. I sincerely appreciate your help in my drive towards providing an appropriate education for all students. Thank you so much!
