Support a Atlanta Wellness Center “EarlyRoots”

Donation protected
Hello!

My name is Tayla. I’m a young, Black mother and certified yoga practitioner with a concentration in special needs children, K-12. Born and raised in Atlanta, I am a healing practitioner and 200hr registered athletic power & trauma informed yoga instructor. My dream is to open a wellness studio for BIPOC families to receive access to holistic wellness modalities. This year, to start building that dream, I created EarlyRoots, a yoga + mindfulness program for students and staff K-12. I create mindfulness curriculums for students of all abilities and support special needs children in their mindfulness practices.  EarlyRoots has been grown out of the need for a true collaborative, holistic, integrative-wellness approach for BIPOC in Atlanta.  This will be a safe space. This studio will serve the Atlanta community by offering the following:

-A collaborative space for a diverse network of Counselors & Healing Practitioners
-Mindfulness programs for students K-12. This will include professional development courses for public school teachers and yoga instructors.
-A yoga and fitness studio for classes or private sessions. Consultations will be exclusively created for client’s wellness goals. Plant-based diets/meal plans will be included upon request
-Land for gardening. I would like to host weekly garden day and medicinal plant identification workshops.
-EarlyRoots will be committed to working with the Black youth through advocacy, empowerment and awareness efforts. I believe the youth can shape programs, policy and outreach activities that affect the health of their peers, schools, communities and nationwide.

With the current state of the world I’ve made the huge decision to homeschool my child and to no longer work for the public school system. I believe I can start this endeavor with the help and support of my community. I’m raising money for the startup costs of the business and to support my living costs as I transition from the school system to a full time entrepreneur.

A little about me:
When I was 16 years old I donated my bone marrow to my terminally ill sister, making her the first person to ever be cured of sickle cell disease with a non-match bone marrow transplant. This incredible miracle led me and my family down a path of holistic wellness. If you want to read more about this story, click the link below!

I have a mental illness that has kept me from keeping steady work. I had an episode the entire time I was pregnant and then immediately had my son. His existence helped me find the wherewithal to get part time job as a teacher’s assistant in a class for special needs children. Through my own holistic wellness practices I worked very hard to get promoted to a full time job with benefits as a single mom . I have worked hard to show up physically and financially for my family but my own illness and COVID has set me back. Although my job has allowed me to receive mental health treatment and be on the right path I still don’t make enough to cover all of my rent, bills and debt. Due to my inability to pay back my debts, 15% of my already low wages are being garnished. As a single mom, the wage withholding order not only makes it impossible to pay my rent, utilities, medical, car and child expenses but it also prevents me from paying my student loan debt.
I’m looking to my friends, family and community to support me in supporting you in your wellness.

Thank you!
