Our mother, Carmen Genovese began to lose her voice at the end of 2018. Her doctor said it was "Nothing". However, we took her to a ENT specialist, who diagnosed her with cancer of the vocal cords.
After "5" surgical procedures, she had the cancerous tissue removed and was healing well.
Unfortunately, since the Covid-19 Lock-down, we could not get a follow-up exam to check if she was still cancer free.
That allowed her condition to return unnoticed.
*Update: Our mother is now having severe pulmonary issues and requires a chest exam. We managed to have her seen 6/30/2020. We will receive results shortly after.
**07/02/2020: Her endoscopy (picture in updates) shows renewed growth on her vocal cords. She will need another procedure.
***10/17/2020: Another surgery on November 11th. I'm praying this one is her final one.
The costly medical bills and medications have erased any hope to repair her home "and also" make mobility accommodations, such as a ramp, walkway repair, new wider doors with doorways, repair a first floor bathroom. Her home needs other work as well to make it safe for her.
In April 2020, there was a roof leak which also needs to be repaired.
With the new findings with regard to her health, we are using what funds we have strictly for her medical needs.
Her house is on hold for now.
Our Mother went through many tough times in her life. She spent her life helping others. She deserves others helping her now.
What funds can do to help:
