Through Her Glasses, LGBTQ Short Film

Donation protected
We, at ASAProductions are very thrilled to launch this campaign for a very powerful short film,Through Her Glasses after a 8 month beautiful journey of developing this story. It is very close to our heart as it is based on one of our our amazing producers, Shira's high school experience of confessing her love to a girl in her class which was followed by rejection- this also marked as her coming out to the world.

About the Film-
The daily routine of a closeted, young, self made woman gets interrupted  when her high school friend who rejected her love 10 years ago unexpectedly visits her cafe.

About the Producers-
The COVID times graduates of UCLA, Aishwarya and Shira are natives of India and Israel, respectively (they act, produce and write or try to at least). With ASAProductions, they want to tell stories that matter and in some way pay homage to their cultures. This marks as their second short film together, the first one , ‘Shift’ went on to win at many festivals - Best Shorts Competition, Istanbul Film Awards, LA Shorts Awards, Los Angeles Film Awards to name a few.For them, 'Through her Glasses' has been the light at the end of this very-long-uncertain-tunnel of a time  and they hope to spread  some love and positivity with it.

Shira's Statement-
As I moved to the United State to start a new life from the scratch, I believed I was leaving my past behind. What I did not realize is actaully the only thing I am carrying with me while moving to a new place is in fact the one and only- the past. We cannot run from ourselves no matter where we go, but we can totally embrace ourselves- our past self our future self and our present self. For me this story is not only to deal with my past experience but also to use that experience as an anchor and no longer as a barrier.

Director, Elena's statement-
This is a story about the past as a phenomenon and our ways to deal with it - whether it becomes our burden or our basis for growth. I believe everyone can relate to that and recall an experience that keeps haunting us. It might stay with us consciously or subconsciously, but it still influences our present time and our present selves. It also happens to us to not realize what influence we have on others, so it is good to remind yourself about this from time to time and to follow the Golden rule of treating others as you want to be treated. United States is my fourth country to reside in, which means that I had to go through that separation from the past and, at the same time, rediscovery of the present at least 4 times. While in reality there were many more, just coming from an ordinary course of life. I am not advocating for the fact that the number or the intensity of those experiences make you more knowledgeable or prepared for them in the future, because every time it is a new proposition. However, I am a believer that living those experiences consciously and discovering yourself being Tamar in one case, and Alya in another is the very essence of going through your life journey. So I do relate and I do find myself in both characters, with all their weaknesses and strengths, that is why it is such a wonderful adventure to explore them.

About the Donations-
We start production in less than a week and it is really important for us to be able to tell this story in the most suitable way that does justice to it. We would use the donations towards renting of locations, insurance, equipments, food, permits and transport. Hopefully if we raise enough in this round, we would also use this money to submit to festivals but if not we would continue raising funds in the post-production phase. Be rest assured, that we will be following all COVID rules and guidelines during production.

Of course all of you lovely donors will get a special thanks in the credits!
