Rebuilding homes of displaced families in Tripoli
Donation protected
Since April 2019, warlord Khalifa Haftar raged a war to capture Tripoli the capital of Libya with the aid of several foreign powers. During his offensive, Tripoli suffered daily indiscriminate shelling of homes and infrastructure, which resulted in 500+ civilian deaths, including entire families, children, and the elderly, and around 200,000 civilians displaced from their homes.
After a year-long battle to defend the city, Haftar’s forces have been pushed out of the city, leaving behind destroyed, looted, and booby-trapped homes to cause as much damage as possible. While work continues to demine the remaining liberated areas, several internally displaced families were given clearance to return to their homes.
We are reaching out to you to support those who recently returned and found their homes damaged as a result of this war, they need our urgent support to help rebuild their homes and their lives and to reduce the risk of exposure to Coronavirus as it starts to spread across the country. Every penny collected will be used for the intended purpose, and we will work with the local community and organisations to make sure the money reaches the victims.
