Stanley "Sticks" Robinson Memorial

Donation protected
On Tuesday July 21st, 2020 at 7:45pm The University of Connecticut lost a family member.  Stanley “Sticks” Robinson passed away at the age of 32.  He leaves behind his 3 beautiful daughters: Kamilah 15, Kelsi 13, and Karter 7.  The news of his passing sent a shockwave of emotions through the Uconn basketball family.  Nobody could believe he was gone.  He was loved and respected by his coaches, teammates, and all that knew him.

Stanley was from Birmingham, Alabama and was Mr. Basketball for the State his senior year.  He played for “Us” from 2006-2010 and was the starting forward on the schools 2008-2009 NCAA Final Four run.  He was drafted by the Orlando Magic in 2010 and played professionally in Canada, Iceland, and Spain.

When Coach Calhoun heard the news he was devastated and was quoted saying “I am truly heartbroken.  Stanley was such a beautiful person, caring and giving.  He was a gentle soul, too gentle for this world.  He was not only loved by his teammates, but everybody who met Sticks liked him.  He will always be a Husky.”

Coach reached out to me to discuss the situation and to come up with an idea to do something to honor Stanley.  We came up with the idea to do a “Go Fund Me” for his daughters as a way to honor him and to show the love that the Uconn family has for one of its own.  There have been a number of people who have reached out to Coach and the School who wanted to give to honor him and to support Stanley’s family members who will be raising these young women moving forward.  The last few years had been a bit challenging for him so we felt giving to his surviving family was a great way to honor him.

I ask that you would please consider making a donation to help support his girls.  No donation is too small and every bit helps.  Furthermore, we ask that you send this “Go Fund Me” page to all the Uconn family members you know and anyone who knew him personally.  These are the times where we can show what being a part of the Uconn family is all about.  Thank you for taking the time to read this and your consideration in giving.  Be Blessed, Stay Safe, and Go Huskies!
