John L. Moffat has instilled his courage, impeccable work ethic, and joy of life into each of his four children. At 67 years of age, he has successfully built a 44 year career of calling his own shots in business and construction. He is quite gracious, in that he has opened his home to others in their time of need. He taught the importance of community by serving as Alderman. He and his wife Bonnie have shown everyone what 44 years of marriage can accomplish. Although John exudes strength, through his tough exterior, he is still everybody’s favorite Grandpa! However, he needs our help, and we need to show him as much spirit and support as possible, just as he would, for us kids.
Pop has been diagnosed with Angio Sarcoma of the Liver. A rare and aggressive form of vascular cancer. His treatment plan is indefinite as surgery cannot heal him. About 5 months ago they told my father he had 90 days to live.
He continues to work full time in downtown St. Louis as this diagnosis gave them no time to prepare. He is the sole wage earner and has been for the better part of 45 years. He began remodeling the family home in preparation to downsize and retire.
He is fortunate that he can receive treatment in town as a medical trial accepted him at Barnes Jewish Hospital. It is quite costly and the demands of the treatment have been more than expected. One drug in particular, which cannot be substituted, costs 20% of $13,459.00 and must be administered every 21 days.
We want nothing more than for John to spend his remaining days in comfort. We do not know how much time he has and Bonnie and John deserve to start finding peace without worrying with bills and unfinished projects. The retirement my father deserves may not be one he gets to fully enjoy, but we want him to rest knowing that his family is taken care of. Any funds raised would go to secure housing for Bonnie, medical costs and final expenses. We thank you for your time and consideration.
