Gabis Ranch is a tropical paradise for rescue horses, dogs, and any other animal that may need a home in the Dominican Republic. Gabi is an animal activist and well respected in her community; Locals call on her to protect & care for animals with no questions asked. Gabi has saved countless horses and dogs from certain death through emergency medical attention, long term care, rehoming & foreign adoptions. Gabi has assumed all of the financial responsibility; Her tireless work & strong commitment to rescue has been made possible through tourism excursions and charitable contributions.
Enter 2020: Due to COVID-19 & the strict travel restrictions in D.R., all tourism income is lost. The grass which feeds the horses is becoming scarce, so feed has to be purchased as well as viable land located & leased. Gabi has 40+ horses, 20+ dogs, and a variety of other animals all being cared for. Her basic costs are around €1,500.00 per month - provided no animal gets sick / no emergencies arise (And they do). This includes the lease for the pastures, feed, regular medication, special vitamins or supplements, deworming as well as 3 employees whose livelihood depends on their work for Gabis Ranch.
During this pandemic, it is not easy to ask for donations. But we cannot allow the animals to starve. We are asking for your help in supporting Gabis Ranch so that she may continue to serve the sick, abused, and neglected animals of La Altagracia. Every dollar goes straight to Gabi for buying food, payments for veterinary costs, etc. Besides a one-time donation, you may also consider sponsoring one of her animals with a monthly gift.
