Hello Family, Friends and Funders and Welcome to Royalty Reads!

Royalty Reads believes that our young Black and Brown Kings & Queens deserve to be surrounded by images that allow them to see their majestic selves represented on the pages of the books placed in our Little Free Libraries.

I have been inspired by @littlefreediverselibraries  to bring Black Literature to Evanston’s 5th Ward through Little Free Libraries placed throughout its neighborhoods and community.

By providing our young royalty opportunities to see themselves being reflected in literature, their identities are affirmed, they feel seen, valued, celebrated and represented in scenarios that mirror their images and their lives.  The books that will be placed in our Royalty Reads Little Free Libraries will play an important role in building children’s self-confidence and self-worth while supporting their  dreams and visions of having futures beyond their wondrous imaginations.

My goal is to purchase 4 Little Free Libraries and fill them with fiction and non-fiction books that show characters representing Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC).

**Through the books placed in our Royalty Reads Little Free Libraries, there is also the opportunity for white children to educate themselves and experience our majestic cultures, backgrounds and the contributions BIPOC have given to the world through the characters depicted on the pages of these books.**

Here’s the Plan:

Once the first $3000.00 is raised, I will purchase 4 Little Free libraries, install them in Evanston’s 5th ward and then purchase books and distribute them among the 4 Little Free Library boxes. These boxes follow the "Take a book-Leave a book" rule and aim to provide access and opportunity to this community where books honoring, celebrating and depicting the lives of its residents can be celebrated.

Here’s the Challenge:

The additional $3000.00 raised will be used to purchase 4 additional Little Free Libraries and books to be installed in neighborhoods throughout the South Side of Chicago.

Bonus Challenge:

I will keep this fundraising site up and running.  For each additional $2000.00 raised after our initial goal has been met, I will purchase 2 more Little Free Libraries and books to be placed in one Evanston Neighborhood and one Chicago Neighborhood.  I’ll just keep it going until we have Royalty Reads Little Free Libraries all over Evanston and Chicago!

If you feel inspired to donate to this project, any amount will be greatly appreciated.

I will continue to post updates here and on our Royalty Reads instagram page throughout the whole process to keep you all informed on the progress of this Book Spreading Adventure!

Thank you!
