Bayden's Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Sweet Bayden was pulled from Oyster Bay Animal Shelter about 2 weeks ago, and we've received some devastating news about his health. Bayden has not been using one of his hind legs, so we took him to a specialist to have some tests done. Dr. Carver was concerned upon exam, so he had radio-graphs, blood-work and a biopsy. We received the devastating news that he has Osteosarcoma, a very aggressive bone cancer. When we pulled Bayden, we knew he had existing leg issues, along with bi-lateral hip dysplasia, but this new diagnosis is most heartbreaking. We have met with Dr.Carver to discuss the options. If we do nothing, the prognosis is very poor. With surgery, and chemo, his life expectancy is a year. She feels he will do very well with the surgery. Being this is also a very painful cancer, removing his leg will give him a much better quality of life. We have booked his leg amputation for Thursday and he will have 4 rounds of Chemo, starting 2 weeks after his surgery. We do not make these decisions lightly and believe that Bayden can have a wonderful year. We will make sure that every day will be filled with all of his favorite things, getting snuggles, playing ball, lounging in the sun, going for car rides and getting home cooked meals.
Bayden is so full of love and life, and we are dedicated to getting him the treatment he needs and deserves!
Please consider a donation to his medical treatment, our rescue was not prepared for such extensive medical treatment, but we will not turn our backs on this sweet boy- but we cant help him without help from our amazing supporters!
Thank you!
