No Cell Tower In Scenic Ridge Neighborhood

Donation protected
We are a group of neighbors that are trying to save our families health, welfare and properties from the negative effects of a 170ft cell tower being constructed in what is basically our back yard. The tower, and the 50ftx50ft "compound" will be 60 feet from my lot line, and close to numerous other neighbors lots as well as the property adjoins 4 properties. It impacts far more homes however,  as the tower will be seen from everywhere in our neighborhood. Property values will be impacted, safety risks will abound as the tower is 170ft tall in someone's yard, surrounded by diesel generators and fencing with barbed wire, and of course all of the unknown (and some known) health risks from this much radiation being so close. We attempted to fight at the village of Vernon hearings, but they caved and approved the conditional use permit as they were afraid of being sued by Diamond Communications, who is the developer. Diamond communications saw an opportunity to make money, as Verizon is currently located on a nearby power tower. Verizon's lease is ending, so they have to relocate. Diamond Communication is trying to get 5 carriers to put their equipment on this proposed tower. The area is a residential area, and Diamond Communication found a property owner who could be bought. The subject property is in the village of Vernon, but is surrounded by village of Big Bend properties. There are countless farm fields all around, but they did not contact any of the owners to discuss a more suitable location. Bottom line, this is the cheapest option for the cell companies and developer. Our stance is that their cheapest option should not be at the expense of an entire neighborhood. This is not appropriate in a residential neighborhood.

The picture is the view from my backyard currently, but will include a giant tower and compound if we don't win this fight. They will cut down the mature trees so our view of this will basically be unobstructed. Diamond Communications came to every meeting and basically told all of the residents that we had nothing to worry about, and that since there is already a tower nearby, we shouldn't care about a new additional tower and compound. Well, we do care.

We are going to use this money towards our legal expenses as we file suit and attempt to get the courts to side with us and reverse the Villages decision about the conditional use permit. Any help is greatly appreciated, as the cost will likely be around $15,000. Our attorney is $295 an hour. Please consider helping us preserve this rural area and our childrens health, safety and property values with a donation to our legal fund. Thank you for your time and consideration!
