Latino Camping Kits

Donation protected
We are raising funds for basic camping kits for Latinos in our area (WA state).

Donations go towards the cost of the Camp Kits requested plus the cost of shipping items out that cannot be dropped off locally.

"As a kid, my family and I never went camping.  We day hiked and it never dawned on us to stay overnight.  Also, coming from immigrant parents camping is something you did while working in the fields not for "fun".  Only as adults and after having kids did we attempt to camp (about 4 years ago!).  We know from experience, that we did not have any equipment, didn't know what we needed, or where to get it.  Now that we are more experienced, we would love to give back because we know the benefits that camping has brought to our family (bonding, connection to nature, peace, solitude, and fun!).  It is never too late to start something for the first time!"  Grace (aka La Gris, aka Gricelda).

REQUEST A KIT:  To get a kit simply send us an email [email redacted]. That's it!

We will drop off kits locally (following all CDC social distance guidelines) in the greater Snohomish/King Counties.  Shipping if available.

KITS:  Will contain the following (vary depending on inventory)
Tent
2 sleeping bags
Cooler
Camping stove
First aid kit
Camping socks
Annual Park pass (Discovery or NW Forest Park) when applicable.

ABOUT US:  Loco Hiking Club is all inclusive & diverse (men, women, all ethnicities, races, background, etc.). I am Latina and founded the group, hence the name ☺️. We are not exclusively Latinos, but do acknowledge that this a difficult time for our country.

Per Washington Hikers and Climbers, “outdoor spaces everywhere should be places for everyone to share their love of nature, especially those who have been historically disenfranchised. We need to work together as a community of outdoor enthusiasts to ensure that everyone, including people of color, have the opportunity to recreate and enjoy the benefits of our wild American spaces, and can do so without fear of harassment, hostility or suspicion.”

Exposure & access to the great outdoors Is what we all need for our physical health and mental health.

We are working on ways to get more involved with exposing BIPOC to the outdoors, in particular the PNW. If you have any ideas, resources, or want to get involved, please join the Facebook group or follow us on Instagram or email [email redacted].
