Summary
All the money raised will help us with the costs to make tournaments a little cheaper so that we can go to more than just one tournament. If we raise $2000, we would be able to attend 3-5 national tournaments!
We are NOT making any profit; all donations will go towards competing at national tournaments! We don't want money, we want a chance to compete.
Each tournament has an entry fee of about $100 or more, and we have 6 teams, which means each tournament would cost us about $600+ overall!
The money will also go towards hiring a judge for the tournaments since all schools are obligated to have judges for a certain amount of entries we have (which could cost about $100-$200 for one judge)
Even if it is cheap to go to one national tournament, the costs do add up when we go to multiple tournaments!
Any amount donated will greatly help us afford to compete in prestigious tournaments against debaters across the whole country (and world!)

The Fiorello H. Laguardia High School Debate Team is based in New York, NY.
For the first time, Laguardia has a competing public forum debate team. We've enjoyed every moment that we met during debate meetings, competed at tournaments, had practice rounds, and even researched. Our growing debate team is excited for our second year of competing, but we need some help to make it even better.
Debate is a very expensive activity and is difficult to afford. However, all costs are worth it. With some funding, we would be able to compete in tournaments against amazing teams across the globe. This would allow us to improve in this activity much more by facing a much more competitive pool of debaters and being able to debate more rounds. Most importantly, the experience we would gain and the new people we would meet by competing at national tournaments would be the best part of accessing invitationals.
Your donation will have a LASTING IMPACT on Laguardia debaters, both in the short- and long-term. This is because giving us access to national tournaments would increase our skills and knowledge in this activity. We can then pass on debate wisdom and teach them (then they'll teach new debaters in the future and so on) the skills that will help them succeed in debate, as well as life. Your donation will benefit GENERATIONS of debaters at Laguardia and for our current members who could make lasting friendships with other teams on the national circuit.
Your donation would mean the WORLD to us. Not only would you be allowing us to compete at national tournaments, but you'd also be giving us a chance to grow closer together as a team as we navigate the new experience together.
