Seedlings for a Cause

As massive layoffs continue due to the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of families in the Bay Area and across the nation are having difficulty providing healthy meals for their families.

To help the families that are struggling, Valley Verde is giving away vegetable seedlings, so they can grow their own food in their home gardens. Being able to plant vegetables in your own home, is not only affordable, but also sustainable, as you learn to grow your own food for the present and the future.

In Spring 2020, we gave away 12,240 vegetable seedlings to over 1,500 families to plant a Spring garden.

We are aware that the need for food security is still out there so in October 2020 we will give away another 7200 vegetable seedlings to an additional 900 families

We plan to continue these vegetable seedling giveaways for the next few years, but we can't do this without your help.

More information about Valley Verde: Valley Verde assists Santa Clara County low-income residents in growing organic vegetables in their own yards. Its mission is building healthy and resilient communities by providing low-income families educational programs, edible gardens, and micro-entrepreneurship opportunities that create food security and lead to self-sufficiency.
