HFD's newest FF suffers total loss in house fire.

Donation protected

The Houston Fire Department station 51's newest rookie, Alyssa Melillo, Carlos Salazar and family, is suffering a devastating loss today after a house fire claimed a total loss of their home, cars, clothes etc. The Melillo & Salazar family is left with only the clothes on their backs while everything is nearly unsalvageable. Fortunately, everyone was able to evacuate the home without any major injuries. Alyssa is 6 months pregnant with boyfriend Carlos Salazar and has been a huge asset to the Houston Fire Department. Alyssa was transported to Texas Women's Hospital to be evaluated for smoke inhalation and to get an ultrasound to check on the condition of the baby. Boyfriend, Carlos was on shift at HFD Fire Station 59 when the incident took place and shaken up that he wasn’t able to be there with the family in this devastating time. Any donations will tremendously help with the essentials like toiletries, toothbrushes, clothes, maternity clothes etc. The Houston Fire Department 51's C shift crew is graciously accepting any donations available. No donation is too big or too small, even the smallest amount helps get the family back on their feet and get the necessary daily essentials.
