Help the Johnsons get a home

I noticed that something was amiss with Kyle and Sophia, so I reached out to them. For those who may not know the Rowles family connection, Kyle is the son of Ann Miller Johnson, and grandson of Lottie and Wilbur Miller.  Please help if you are able.  What follows are Kyle’s words and the struggle they are facing:

Even though I have the closest family, I’ve been reluctant to ask for help when I desperately need to.  But I’m very lucky that someone reached out when they noticed that something difficult was going on.

My wife and I with our children have been living in a hotel since April 2020.  We sold our home in NY and had a contingency purchase to move on for a better life.  Unfortunately our NY sale closed but our purchase fell through.  The COVID-19 pandemic caused uncertainty in the lending sector and our anticipated mortgage to buy our home, ceased lending.

We’re homeless and living off what remains of the proceeds of the sale of our house, including paying for two storage rooms, which was intended to help us with closing costs for our current home purchase.  We have less thank two weeks to raise $7,000 of the $10,000 in cash that we need to close.

In April we had $13,000 and didn’t have anything to worry about, but that all changed when Sophia’s job chose to deny her the ability to work from home.  We’re fighting this but in the meantime, our financial situation is deteriorating our savings and our hope.

I don’t know if anyone else is struggling during this crisis, and I’m sorry to ask for help but we have no other option.  We are doing what we can to keep life from being hard on our children and trying to avoid going into a homeless shelter.

I really did not want to sell the house since it’s one of the last memories I have of Mom and Dad.  But it was way too expensive to keep.  The property taxes are of the highest in the country and the school district was hurting Malachi.  Our decision to move was to ease our expenses and our kids will also be moving into a better school district.  We believe that letting NY go was the right move for us and so far, God has continued to carry us through.

Please know that we all will be forever grateful for your help and grateful that God worked through my cousin Dayna to reach out to and offer her help.

Thank you.
