Wildfire Relief for RSV Christmas Tree Farm

Donation protected
Dear friends of Rancho Siempre Verde and the extended Kosek family,

With a heavy heart, we bring you sad news that much of the beloved Rancho Siempre Verde (RSV) burned in the CZU Lightening Complex fire that began Sunday, August 16, with the spectacular lightning storm. After gathering force and extending its reach, the fire swept through RSV on Wednesday, August 19. While much of the heavy farm equipment was saved, the ranch sustained extensive and significant damage.

As you probably know firsthand—or have heard by word of mouth—over the past 55 years, the Kosek family has created a community on the farm during the holiday season selling Christmas trees and welcoming everyone with open arms and roasted marshmallows. Many of you (like us) have been ‘regulars’ at RSV for years—decades even—and build holiday plans around your annual visit. We know from our own experience that many families (and dogs!) hold a special place in their hearts for RSV. Perhaps also like us, many of you would love to help the Koseks rebuild to ensure that the ranch has a future we can all enjoy.

The full extent of the damage is still being assessed. The losses incurred include farm equipment, buildings and farm infrastructure, and of course some of the trees themselves. The immediate and urgent need is rebuilding infrastructure. If the farm is to have a future, and if there is to be a Christmas tree season this year, the fields must get water, urgently. Power, water and the irrigation systems must be restored as soon as possible. This means replacing water pumps, melted pipes, and rebuilding the electric system for the irrigation. These needs are both immediately pressing and absolutely critical to rebuild other parts of the farm that were destroyed.

Rebuilding takes time and energy and on a farm, cannot wait. We invite you to join us, as friends of Rancho Siempre Verde, in contributing to the rebuilding effort. Know that the Kosek family is on-board with this campaign and all funds raised go directly to their rebuilding account.  Once the campaign ends, we will post photos to that website so you can follow the rebuilding progress.

You can learn more about how the fire affected the farm and the RSV family on the RSV website .

Thank you in advance,
