Maverick Recovery Fund

On the evening of Saturday, August 22nd Sean and Leah's precious baby boy, Maverick, experienced a seizure which, unbeknown at the time, would be the first of many.  Sean rushed him to the ER at the local hospital nearby and they were able to successfully stop the seizure.  It was then determined that he would need additional pediatric care and needed to be transferred to the children's hospital in Washington DC 67 miles away from home.  Sean and Maverick were flown via helicopter to DC while Leah quickly gathered items and drove the hour and a half drive in the night to be with both of them.

During the first 24 hours at the hospital Maverick experienced multiple seizures. After many scans, conversations, and Maverick not showing signs of improvement, it was determined that he would need surgery due to fluid and pressure buildup in his head which needed to be relieved.  After a long two hour procedure the doctors were happy to report that Maverick was in recovery and that he "did great!".  There were no complications or surprises and he would be heavily monitored.  Additional scans to check improvement would happen in the days to come.

As of Wednesday, Maverick is still in the PICU with no estimated date of leaving at this time.  He is on a medication to help with the seizures, however, they have stopped since the surgery which has been GREAT news.  He continues to have small setbacks but is improving little by little each day.

Due to COVID, Sean and Leah have not been able to be with the baby together as the hospital only allows one person with Maverick at a time.  Sean and Leah are also the parents to big sisters Aria and Layla who stayed back in Maryland with Grandma while they went with Maverick.

Mom and dad have been traveling between the hospital, friend and family houses near the hospital and even back home at times to be with the girls.  It is expected that he will have ongoing doctor appointments in DC that they will need to travel for, unknown medical bills that might not be covered and potentially medications going forward.  At this time nobody knows the care he will need after they get over this hurdle.  It would be nice to help lighten even a small amount of financial stress behind this unimaginably difficult time in their lives.

Sean and Leah want to thank everybody for your support and ask that you keep Maverick in your prayers while he continues to fight!
