Keep Mia Housed and Safe

Hi friends, comrades and community,
Many of you have seen, shared and contributed to my ongoing ask for support for my friend Mia (she/they). Mia is a Black trans person living through a stage four cancer diagnosis. Because of her cancer progressing, Mia is unable to work to afford her regular essential expenses. She does not currently receive disability or any state assistance. I am inquiring about every ounce of city wide and non-profit assistance that Mia is eligible for but with the pandemic, and so many folks needing help I wanted to prepare a backup plan. Besides, it is community that has kept Mia taken care of throughout the pandemic. Community raised the money for her rent last month. Community got Mia a bed for the first time in ages and community has made grocery deliveries, check ins, well wishes and messages of love and support. And community, we need your help again.
Mia is facing eviction due to her inability to pay rent. The landlord is willing to cooperate and allow Mia to stay in his building for the month of September if we can come up with the full rent payment by September 5th. The rent is $1250 but I have included a cushion to cover GoFundMe's fees. Any amount remaining will go towards Mia's medical expenses, such as prescriptions for her cancer treatment and overall health.
Last time when we looked to community to save Mia from eviction we hit our goal in less than 24 hours. Mia was completely blown away with gratitude and love for you all who made that possible. I am confident that we can blow them away again by ensuring they have a safe home to remain in for the next several weeks. Please contribute, share, ask your wealthy family or coworkers or neighbors, do anything that your heart calls for you to do to help keep a Black trans person safely housed. Mia has been through more adversity than many of us have ever thought was possible. Mia depends on people like us acting in service of their heart. As Mia's primary confidante, I can ensure transparency in relation to the funds raised through this platform.
