Restaurando la tumba del Visir Amen-Hotep

Durante la pasada campaña, en 2019, el Instituto de Estudios del Antiguo Egipto, dirigido por el egiptólogo y doctor Francisco J. Martín Valentín y la egiptóloga Teresa Bedman, comenzó la inmensa labor, primero de recopilar todos los relieves, revisando más de 12.000 fragmentos, de todo tamaño, para, seguidamente, pasar a restaurarlos y unirlos.

During the last campaign, in 2019, the Institute of Ancient Egypt Studies, directed by the egyptologist and Dr. Francisco J. Martín Valentín and the egyptologist Teresa Bedman , began the hard work, first of collecting all the reliefs, reviewing more than 12,000 fragments, of all sizes, and then restoring and joining them.





Mientras tanto, en el interior de la tumba del visir, los ingenieros del Servicio de Antigüedades, en colaboración con nuestros arquitectos y restauradores, buscaron la mejor solución para devolver el esplendor a esta magnífica tumba. Se comenzó primero por restaurar por anastilosis las paredes de la entrada así como la fachada principal. Sobre estas falsas paredes comenzamos la labor de averiguar dónde iba cada fragmento, para después colocarlo in situ.

Meanwhile, inside the vizier's tomb, the Antiquities Service engineers, in collaboration with our architects and restorers, searched for the best solution to give back the splendor to this magnificent tomb. First they began by restoring with anastylosis the entrance walls as well as the main facade. On these false walls we began to find out the place  where each fragment go, and then placing it in situ.
