Family and Friends of Secrets Guest House

Back in 2007 Derek and Angella were finally able to realise a dream of returning to her homeland in Uganda to set up their own hospitality business and to strive for a good life for their family.

This did not come easily as along the way they met with numerous obstacles, as many of us who know them can testify to.
However, they eventually prevailed and in 2014 the Secrets Guest House & Restaurant was finally completed.

It's with a heavy heart therefore that we learnt of the devastating
fire that engulfed Secrets Guest House on Sunday, 30th August 2020. Through all their efforts with staff and neighbours to extinguish and contain the fire before firefighters arrived, they were overpowered as the fire spread quickly totally destroying the kitchen, restaurant and 4 of the 6 chalets.

Most importantly, nobody was hurt or injured during the incident and for that we are truly blessed and thankful.

Derek and Angella are currently upbeat, but we believe the shock and enormity of what they have to face going forward has not hit them as yet, especially as Covid19 had already taken a heavy toll on their business.

Those of you that know these two individuals know that they are welcoming, warmhearted and compassionate and would do anything within their means to help others, always!
