On August 27th, Hurricane Laura, slammed ashore as a high category 4 with peak winds in the gulf at 150 mph. Hurricane Laura left complete destruction with thousands of families displaced and living in conditions with still no running water or electricity in the September heat.
Hurricane Laura’s historic intensity caused catastrophic damage and was recorded as the strongest hurricane to hit Louisiana in 150 years, and the 5th strongest hurricane to hit the US in modern history. The eye wall, which brings the most damaging winds and intense rainfall passed directly over Lake Charles, LA causing 640 miles of transmission lines down, which is enough power lines to stretch from Lake Charles to Atlanta. Lake Charles, Louisiana is an ever-growing city with breathtaking waterfront views and a sense of freedom you feel from generous, amazing and welcoming people within its community. If you want to help out, please consider donating, No amount is too small and every penny raised will go directly to those affected by Hurricane Laura.
