12/18/20: Chris passed away at 12:32 AM this morning. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and financial support through all of this. Please continue to pray for the family.
Lucellus Christian Miller is a college student at Austin College majoring in business administration. Chris was hospitalized on August 28th due to COVID-19. Over that weekend, he progressively got sicker and was upgraded to ICU status on August 31st. Chris' condition unfortunately got worse and he was intubated and placed on a ventilator. Despite mechanical ventilation, his condition was not improving and on September 4th he was placed on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). For many that are not familiar with ECMO, it is a machine that bypasses your lungs allowing them to rest and recover from whatever primary insult, while providing oxygen to his body through the machine.
Unfortunately, Chris is an uninsured patient. He will need physical, respiratory, and occupational therapy to regain his strength and mobility once he is off mechanical ventillation. He is the younger brother of Honoria and Amber Bush. Honoria is currently on the front lines battling COVID-19 as an ER nurse and Amber is in graduate school studying to be a Child Life Specialist.
Donations made to Chris' cause will go toward his medical expenses and bills. The family appreciates any donation (no matter how big or small) to help Chris.
