Rob's Recovery Fund

Rob isn’t just a forty-something-year-old guy who works hard, plays harder, and would do anything for a friend… He’s now a forty-something-year-old guy who’s fighting for his life due to complications from COVID.

Up until a few months ago, Rob was a perfectly healthy guy. We were all stunned when an asymptomatic case of COVID landed him in the ICU on a vent a month after his presumed infection.

Being resuscitated. Enduring multiple scans, ultrasounds, tests and various other procedures. Taking BP meds. And heart meds. Going to PT. Eating special renal meals. Getting dialysis 3 times a week. Driving to countless follow-up appointments. Being back and forth in the hospital over and over.

To say Rob & Stacy are exhausted would be a gross understatement. And now, after months of ups and downs, Rob’s liver and kidneys have decided they’re exhausted too - and Rob is officially on the transplant list for both.

Rob is too sick to leave the hospital so he’ll be waiting for that precious gift of life from a hospital bed. The same hospital bed he’ll live in for 4-6 weeks after the transplant to recover. Did I mention he cannot have visitors on the transplant floor? He and Stacy have to navigate this apart, adding insult to injury.

Stacy has been a rock through all of this. But given all that she’s managing - from both an emotional and a logistical perspective - she’s been unable to work. That means she has been on unpaid medical leave for a while now - and will continue to be long after Rob comes home again as she’ll be taking him to multiple follow-up appointments every week to ensure he stays healthy. Thankfully, Rob has FMLA through work, but that well is drying up next week… Which means they need our help now more than ever.

They never imagined they’d be in a position to ask for financial support (Stacy even initially resisted when I suggested a GoFundMe campaign a while back). Of course, they never imagined they’d be facing a transplant and all the follow-up care/medications that come with that coupled with many months without either of them being able to work.

Please consider sending any amount you can. Even $10 adds up when dozens of people each give. If you cannot give today, mark your calendar for your next payday to come back and give then. They have a very long road ahead - and the need will still exist in a few weeks or months.

Anything you contribute will go directly to Rob and Stacy to help with anything they need - from Rob’s medical care and related transplant and medication expenses to covering the costs of food and bills back at home.

If you prefer, you can also send Stacy a meal at home while Rob is in the hospital: https://mealtrain.com/z1ke5o

Thank you, sincerely, for your support.
