Talented WCU student 28 suffers stroke

Donation protected

After a long night of virtual classes on September 3, 2020. Our son, Shane suffered an unexpected stroke at the age of 28. He was able to make a phone call to wake me and made noises into the phone. I ran upstairs knowing something was terribly wrong, he motioned with his fingers trying to write 911 I  said “Son, you can’t talk?” He shook his head no, I didn’t believe it but I knew. I leaned down to his ear and I said “I love you son!” He threw his arm around me to hug me until 911 arrived. He was transported to the hospital where they removed part of his skull to relieve pressure. Currently, he is still under heavy sedation and on a ventilator. We are praying for a miracle to help him survive.

Shane is a talented self taught musician, painter as well as poem writer. Shane is
the guy that is always happy. He is genuinely happy to help anyone in need without a second thought. If he can help, he will! He leads with love and a kind spirit, he is humble and would not want any of this. In fact, he might get a little mad. However, we want to be able to give Shane in his time of need the very best care we can. We know if there is any possible way he can come back to his fullest potential he will find the way back with the best care out there.
He is a WCU student working on a dual Masters and would be finished this year. He taught himself guitar, trading a paintball gun for a used guitar at cash converters. He wrote songs and even played a couple shows. He taught himself how to paint surprising me with a painting of 4 trees, each the color of all my children’s birthstones, signifying the life of my children. He is so very loving and thoughtful. Recently when I wanted to lose weight he said “Mom I’m dedicated to your health let’s go for a walk.” He even had me riding a bike with him. Whatever it takes. From the bottom of our hearts, Please help to give Shane the very best care at the hospital as well as the best rehabilitation. Please help to get him back to the loving guy he is.
