Fire Ravaged Home - Almeda Fire- Phoenix, OR

Donation protected
Our Mom and Dad, Rosalyne, age 74 and Larry, age 75, lost everything in the Almeda Fire Storm on September 8, 2020 in Phoenix, OR. Propelled by massive winds, the burning fires began ravaging neighborhoods and swallowing up homes in this tranquil suburban 55 and over community. They were forced to leave with not a moment to spare, with just the clothes on their backs and some important paperwork. There are burn marks on my father's truck and the bag my mother was carrying as she ran out the door. This is a video of their park. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe6L-sD1SP4 They lost everything, including Mom's car. Sadly, since it was a mobile home, insurance will only cover a small portion of what they paid for it, not all the improvements, upgrades, landscaping, and care they put into into fixing it up over the last 10 years after their retirement. They need help to rent another place, since rebuilding could take a very long time, and that's IF the owners of the park are willing to rebuild. They need help replacing all the essential items they lost. Our Dad was just diagnosed on August 6th with squamous cell lung cancer on his left lung. On Thursday September 3, he went in for the tumor removal. Surgery never happened. The pulmonologist was very thorough. During the endoscopy before the surgery, he saw that the tumor was wrapped around a bronchial tube. Erring on the side of caution, the doctor decided to forego tumor removal at that time as the surgery needed would be more complicated than anticipated. Now, the plan is 3 rounds of chemotherapy to shrink the tumors, then removal of the left lung entirely. It is a blessing this surgery did not happen and he was not recovering at home when the fire hit, otherwise my mom would not have been to get him out, or take what very little paperwork they could grab, and my father would have been on pain meds and not able to drive. They both would have perished. If you could find it in your heart to help, it is appreciated beyond what words could convey. Their children, Trisha and Michael
