Help our friend Farah beat brain cancer

Our dear friend Farah Waheed, a young, kind, sweet, single mom to a 17 year old, was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer after a sudden seizure put her in a brief coma a few months ago.

Those of you who know Farah, know that she’s the ever positive, smile on her face, friend to all type of person, who would bend over backwards to help others.  She now needs those very friends to help her fight this terrible disease.

Farah has been a fighter and an inspiration to many of us.  As an immigrant to Dallas, TX (from Pakistan), at the age of 21, she found herself navigating life of a single mom, without a college degree, barely getting by.  She pushed herself to get multiple masters degrees and to ultimately become a CPA.  Fortunately, she was employed at the time of her diagnoses and is currently on disability.  Unfortunately, her tumor is inoperable and so her road to recovery is long, with months of radiation to her brain and a year or more of chemo....it is very likely her path to recovery will continue past her disability pay.  Her future career opportunities will remain uncertain.  To make matters worse she does not have a large family here to help her through this, so she’s especially looking to her friends to help her through, any which way they can.

As a single mom, she’s the primary support for both her and her son.  She faces mounting medical bills and living expenses that cannot be supported once her disability pay runs out.  We do not know all the details on what her ongoing medical costs would be.  However, brain cancer in particular appears to be exceptionally expensive to treat because of the multitude of medical interventions needed as part of patients’ care. In fact, according to multiple studies, patients with malignant brain tumors accrued health care costs that were higher then most other cancers.

We humbly ask, if God has given you the means and ability, to please help Farah at this critical time.  Even a little goes a long ways!
