John Gibson Almeda Fire Home Replacement Fund

Please help John and his son rebuild after the Almeda Wildfire.
 
John Gibson has been a beloved member of the Sound Department at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for 30 years. He has been laid off due to COVID-19, and last night he lost his home in Talent, Oregon to the Alameda Fire. He is not alone, as there have been many homes lost from Ashland to Medford and beyond, but he is in need.
 
John escaped his home of over 15 years with a few belongings in tow including a couple guitars. No one was expecting this fire to move so quickly and devastate so many homes. John will need funds to cover immediate needs, provide a place for himself and his son, and to begin rebuilding his home and his life.
 
I have worked closely with John for more than a decade, and he is an artist as much as he is an engineer. He is an accomplished musician and a witty writer. We in the Sound Department have had many surprise opportunities to hear John recite short stories or hear his latest tracks. These are always unexpected, and always delightful. I mourn all of the work that was destroyed, as well as many guitars, modern and vintage recording equipment and other instruments that he has put together in his lifetime. Art is necessary, and John is an artist. One amazing thing John has not lost is his quirky sense of humor.
