Help Nadia Become a Midwife

Hi, my name is Nadia, Owner of Crown of Glory Birth Services. I'm a trained birth and postpartum doula serving the Birmingham, Alabama and surrounding areas. In addition to be a doula I'm a placenta encapsulation specialist. I've supported 150+ families with trying to conceive (TTC), Pregnancy, Birth, Postpartum, and placenta encapsulation. With the work I've done in the past two years as a doula I've realized that I am now ready to walk into my God given call to Midwifery. Some of the births I attend I've witnessed women get mistreated, ignored and belittled during labor and I want to be apart of filling that gap in the lack of midwives in my communities.  Currently there aren't any black midwives practicing in my home state of Alabama. Black women and babies in the USA have the worse maternal and infant mortality and morbidity rates of any group in the country and studies have shown that having access to culturally conscious and respectful midwifery care is necessary to shifting that narrative. I believe having access to black midwives who provide culturally conscious and respectful midwifery care is key. "States that give midwives a greater role in patient care achieve better results on key measures of maternal and neonatal health ."
