The impact of the recent humanitarian crisis is being felt across the country and communities big and small, in ways we could have never imagined. Beyond the global health crisis, the recent catastrophes are having severe impacts on individuals and small businesses, especially our beloved local restaurants.
The idea at Meal Forward is simple: Use 100% of the funds raised to purchase meals from the local restaurants, who will deliver those meals to the people impacted by the recent crisis, including California firefighters fighting record-breaking wildfires, the healthcare workers still desperately fighting COVID-19, and the vulnerable populations, like seniors, who lost access to food.
Here’s how it works;
1. You donate. (Subject to tax exemption)
2. 100% of the fund received will be passed to the local restaurants.
3. The restaurants will prepare and deliver meals to people in need.
We’ve been receiving a lot of requests for help from our communities as they are suffering due to the limited access to foods. We are proud to say that since March, we have raised $77K+ through donations and funded 4,100+ meals to people in the Bay Area and Austin, TX. Keeping this great momentum, we are looking to scale up the effort and expand to ‘national’ in order to help more people and local businesses in more sustainable ways.
Organizations we've helped so far:
Hospitals - Kaiser Permanente Medical Center (Santa Clara, Oakland, Cupertino, San Jose), Regional Medical Center, Washington Hospital, Palo Alto Health Care System, Sutter Health, Canyon Springs Post Acute Care, and San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living.
Fire Department: Moraga-Orinda Fire District, currently in communication with several other fire departments especially for the Creek Fire.
Community organizations - Asian Health Services, Ecumenical Hunger Program, KACF, Skyline Health center, and While Blossom Care Center.
Restaurants: K-star doshirak, Korean Palace, Daol Tofu, Tapas Tokki, Nak Won Korean BBQ, Dokkabier, SAMS, Vina Enoteca, Ohgane Korean BBQ, Tootsie's, Korea House, Doppio Zero
