Mickie and Seaweed (Loren) Seward have lost their home to Bear Fire.
Tuesday, September 8, Mickie and Seaweed received an Emergency Evacuation call. The quickly grabbed a few items, and left their home. The next morning it was confirmed that their sweet home and beautiful property of 24 years had burned down. Their home was a very special safe haven, it was full of character, charm and magic.
My mother, Mickie enthusiastically decorated the rooms with antiques, fabric wallpaper, handmade crafts, family heirlooms, and her handmade quilts filled all the nooks and crannies with her special touch. Her garden that she watered every day included roses, and succulents brought from Italy, and many plants that attracted hummingbirds by the dozen. There was always something exciting and new to catch your eyes, and her creative energy was the hallmark feature of this home.
Seaweed was so very proud of the land and of their home. He built a workshop on the property and was constantly tinkering on special projects. He had hoped to restore two Jeep Willys one day. He was always quick to run his grandchildren around the property for tours and to dig up geodes. He worked so hard in his career to move to Berry Creek and enjoy the natural beauty found at his home.
The road ahead is going to be rough as they work to recreate a home. Mickie and Seaweed both feel blessed to be alive, that they are surrounded by family and friends. They both agree that home is where the heart is. No matter where they go, I trust that special will follow, because they are truly special and amazing people.
