WHO THE HELL ARE WE??

Welcome all, and thanks for taking the time to read this. Three years ago we got together with the goal of being a behind the scenes songwriting team. In relatively short order though, we discovered that we were WAY too passionate about these songs to ever let someone else have them. Also, it didn’t hurt that we all came to believe that the singer had it in her to be a bonafide Rockstar! Thus, East of June was born and boy, has it been a whirlwind.

In October 2019, we released our debut single and music video "Rebel" followed by three more videos over the last year. Check out some of our videos:

Over the last 10 months we have released a total of 7 songs:

All Singles on SPOTIFY
All Singles on APPLE MUSIC
All Singles on SOUNDCLOUD

...and the response worldwide has been incredibly positive.

As with many other businesses during this crazy pandemic, we’ve encountered obstacles that none of us could have ever imagined.  The live concert industry is essentially dead for the time being and some experts have suggested that it won’t really be coming back until later 2021 or 2022. Most new bands begin their career by playing a whole bunch of shows in order to build a following.  Given that this is not an option for us, we’ve decided to focus all of our attention and efforts on developing a fanbase via online engagement until performing live becomes a reality again.  We’ve done this with music videos, social media and advertising. The reality of this approach is that it’s working but it ain’t cheap.  Which leads us to…

WHY THE HELL DO YOU GUYS NEED 25K???

Good question and glad you asked. We’ve decided that the next step for us as a band is to record and release a 4-5 song EP early next year. While modern professional recording has moved out of the exclusive domain of $2000/a day studios, there is still a need, for us at least, to hire mixing and mastering engineers whose skills will allow us to transcend the bedroom studio and compete with the quality you would hear from today’s top artists. Additionally, as a three-piece band without a permanent drummer, we have found it necessary to hire out musicians to help us realize our musical vision. We have set an incredibly high sonic bar for ourselves with our previous releases and see no reason why, even as independent artists, we can’t continue to sound like we’re on a major label.

But sounding great is only part of the equation…people need to discover your music, and for that to happen there has to be a strategy to rise above the noise, which in today’s music scene can see tens of thousands of new songs released every week.  To that end we have adopted aggressive social media/advertising campaigns geared towards putting our music in front of the right fans worldwide.  We’ve seen exponential growth in streams, followers, and awareness but these campaigns cost money.

The final piece of the promotional puzzle for any band these days is still the music video.  Streaming videos have taken over the world, and nowhere is this more apparent than the millions of views today’s top songs receive on YouTube and other platforms. The trick for us has been to make high quality artistic videos without breaking the bank. We like to think we’ve succeeded so far and we have a ton of amazing ideas we’d like to make a reality.

WHY NOW, DON’T YOU GUYS KNOW THERE’S A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE GOING ON???

Yeah, about that…

The timing sucks. No other way to put it. But as we see it, we’re three plus years in already and our momentum is picking up.  In a perfect world perhaps we could lay low for a year and start up right where we left off, but we’ve come to realize that if we stop now we may never be able to regain that lost traction. We remain as committed today, perhaps even more so, as we were the moment we collectively understood that we had something special here, that the songs were something to be proud of, and that people really really liked them. However we’re not oblivious to the fact that some of you might want to help but simply can’t. Let it also be clearly stated that a decision to pass will in no way change the nature of our relationships with you…we’ll save the guilt trips and recriminations for our Grammy speech!  For those of you who CAN help though, we encourage you to give as generously as your current financial situation will allow for. Regardless, SHARE SHARE SHARE!!

And check out the tunes if nothing else…you might just become a fan.

With love and gratitude,
East of June
