Miracle Baby Ellis

Finding out our daughter was pregnant with her third baby was one of the greatest joys of our lives, and finding out on Father’s Day was icing on the cake. My daughter Jordyn and her husband Colten, along with their two beautiful girls (our granddaughters Saydee age 7 and Cambree age 5) were adding one more blessing to their already beautiful family. What joy we felt for 6 weeks; then the bottom fell out. Our daughter started bleeding, and, as many would think, we thought she was having a miscarriage. After visiting the ER, she found out she had a subchroionic hemorrhage. In some cases, this kind of hemorrhage goes away, and that was our prayer; however, Jordyn’s hemorrhage only grew. In fact, it grew so much, the doctors were baffled and told her it didn’t look good and termination was an option. Of course that was not an option for Jordyn and Colten. So, they prayed forward. A month later, her hemorrhage had again grown to an abnormal size. This time the doctors told her that her baby had less than a 1% chance of surviving. Again, they prayed forward. After the next visit when the hemorrhage had grown again, the doctors really tried to convince her that this baby would not survive and there was nothing anyone could do. Again, they prayed forward. Jordyn had taken herself off of work indefinitely, which meant that they would be on one income. Doctor bills were piling up, but they prayed forward. At week 15, Jordyn’s water broke, and now the doctors had given her no hope. They told her there was no way this baby could survive without fluid at 15 weeks. Again, they prayed forward. Five agonizing weeks later, and many trips to the ER, doctors told Jordyn that if she went into labor, they would not save the baby, only make him/her comfortable until he/she passes. With a growing hemorrhage and no fluid, Jordyn asked to be sent to Kansas City where there is a level 4 NICU. The doctors told Jordyn it wasn’t necessary; they had zero hope for her. Again, they prayed forward. After being rushed to the ER at week 22, Jordyn demanded to be sent to KC. The doctors appeased her because mamma bear wouldn’t take no for an answer. At week 22, Jordyn arrived in KC. There she lay in bed day after day, week after week, while every doctor told her she had no hope. After Jordyn told the doctors she understood the risks, she told them she didn’t want anyone to come to her with anymore negativity because she and her husband were praying for a miracle. One doctor even had the nerve to tell her, “You know, sometimes holding your baby for 20 minutes is God’s miracle.” She told that doctor to leave her room. Again, they prayed forward. Week 23 we celebrated knowing baby’s survival was better. Doctor’s kept telling Jordyn not to get her hopes up because infection was inevitable because she had not fluid, and when infection set in, they would take the baby. They even tried to tell Jordyn that they needed to take the baby because her life was in danger. Again, they prayed forward. All the while Jordyn is bleeding and had to have 4 blood transfusions. Again, they prayed forward. Week 24 passed; then week 25 passed. The doctors started seeing that maybe Jordyn’s faith was working. Week 26 passed, and finally week 27. Oh how we rejoiced every single week. Finally, on week 27 day 2, Jesus decided Baby Jones was ready to meet the world. On November 27, 2020, against all odds, our sweet Miracle Baby, Colten Ellis Jones (Ellis), was born. They had a son! At 2 lbs. 8 oz. he was the most beautiful baby we had ever seen. Jordyn and Colten received the miracle for which they prayed, for which we all prayed, for so many weeks. They have a long road ahead of them, but Ellis is considered a miracle baby even by the doctors. They told Jordyn there is no way this baby should have survived, but we know Jesus can do anything. Jordyn is now “that person” that is inspiration to others going through the same thing. She loves being “that person.” So for the next many months, Jordyn will need to stay in KC. The Ronald McDonald house where she was going to stay won’t allow her husband and children to come visit. If they leave, they cannot return. Saydee and Cambree have already been without their mommy for 6 weeks. Three to six more months is not an option. Therefore, Jordyn will need to rent an apartment in KC. There are many obstacles to this: Expense it the biggest due to them being on only one income. Location is another. The hospital is not in a good neighborhood, and the very cheap apartments are not in an area where we want Jordyn to stay and be safe. Time is the final obstacle. We need a furnished apartment because she only needs one for a few months, but those are expensive; around $1500 per month. We are asking for donations, not only for the apartment, but also for the astronomical medical bills we know are to come.  Although Ellis is doing well, he is on an oscillator, many tubes, and nitrous oxide. He has already had one surgery to fix is bowels and will be on a bag for six weeks until he can undergo another surgery to remove the bag, not to mention any other obstacles that may occur being that he is a preemie. Any amount of money we can raise will go directly to rent and hospital bills. Thank you in advance for prayers and donations. You can see Jordyn and Colten’s updates on her FB page. This family is truly inspirational and full of faith. Thank you Jesus!!!
