Because of the pandemic, this holiday will be our biggest challenge yet.  Many families have lost much of their income and it's going to be a rough Christmas especially for the children.

About San Diego Community Assist
SDCA believes in improving the quality of life in San Diego, California by providing business, medical, educational, and social services to people in need as well as provide opportunities for career building and training.

The essence of Christmas is to gather in social settings and share mutual pleasure of the holiday. Times when COVID-19 has decimated so many Americans and impacted lives in immeasurable ways, these holidays will be the most challenging for countless people.

San Diego Community Assist (SDCA) is a nonprofit organization that focuses on the major issues of San Diego, California. The company wants to help solve homelessness, assist teachers and students with education programs, provide employment support, and help with the housing shortage. We also aim at reducing the crime rate by creating programs and services to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community.

Effect of COVD-19 on San Diego
Due to COVID-19, even more families are faced with the harsh reality of not being able to afford gifts for their children this Christmas. While the need has always been great, this year far surpasses those of the past. We want to keep the Christmas tradition of giving alive, and help make sure no child or family in San Diego  is left without a gift this year.

The San Diego regional economy saw a downturn due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in an official U.S. recession. Six months into the pandemic and subsequent economic disruption, many in the San Diego region have experienced some sort of hardship; however, as SANDAG has noted in recent publications, some groups have been disproportionately affected, including females, minorities, lower income earners, and younger employees.

With an estimated 176,000 workers still unemployed due to COVID-19 in the San Diego region, lower-income workers are more likely to be out of work as this pandemic continues, compared to middle- and high-income workers. In addition, three sectors were disproportionately represented among employment sectors hardest hit: Tourism, Retail, and Education. Across these sectors, an estimated 141,000 employees (80% of those unemployed in the region) lost an estimated $3 billion in wages (representing 63% of all lost wages in the region). Additional disparities include females being more likely to experience a job loss in the Education sector, and younger workers and those who identified as Hispanic being more likely to lose jobs in the Tourism sector.

Support for Community Assistance & Development Program in San Diego

The year 2020 has been one of loss, lessons and learnings. It has left everyone in a state of sheer panic, more than ever and rightfully so. A lot of people have lost their jobs and livelihood. Homelessness and unemployment are at an all-time high. While the end might not be anywhere near in sight, it is important for us to come together and start rebuilding our hopes, dreams and our community for a better tomorrow.

San Diego Community Assist (SDCA) is a non-profit organization that is committed to dealing with and solving social issues like homelessness, unemployment, housing shortage and provide assistance to teachers and students to build a strong scholastic community in San Diego, California. Our mission here is to make sure that every step we take towards community support and development is a leap forward in improving the quality of life of people in San Diego. We are passionate about providing business, medical, educational, and social services to people in need as well as provide opportunities for career building and training. Our efforts are reflected in our vision, one of which is to reduce homelessness by 30% over a period of 5 years by building over 20,000 homes. In addition to this, we also encourage and support students and entrepreneurs in their dreams.

We promote small acts of service because we believe in their power to make a big difference in the lives of people. It is through your support that we have achieved our goals until now and going forward, it is through your support that we will be able to build a strong, educated, self-sufficient and prosperous community in San Diego. For this reason, we are here to ask for your donations to help kickstart our plan to purchase and develop housing property, support educational programs for students, provide scholarships and well-rounded services for women and men alike. Your donations will further be used to pay for the salary and operational expenses incurred in creating and executing our community development programs.

Let us join hands and come together to support each other during these trying times and remind each other that in unity there is strength. We are grateful for your time and donations to our cause and we hope that in time, we are able to not just build a strong community in San Diego but also expand our efforts to have a nationwide impact to make America the wonderful country it is meant to be.

No donation is too small. Thank you.
