Grand Rising! DeeDee here, founder of The C.A.R.E. Wellness Center and Services in Olympia, Washington. Thank you for giving your time and attention to our cause.

Since 2009, I have been committed to my own personal journey of rehabilitation and healing, which has taught me more than I could ever hope to summarize in this brief posting. I dramatically changed my life in March 2019 when I left my quiet office job, family and home in California, to backpack Southern Europe for 6 months. During my travels, I volunteered throughout Italy, Albania, and Greece, learning hotel/hostel management, hospitality, agrotourism, sustainability, and pursued spiritual enlightenment. I returned to the states late 2019 (100 lbs lighter), to learn permaculture, food forestry and bee preservation under local activists and farmers in Lewis County. I became committed to meditation and prayer, yoga, plant-based eating, and universal spiritual practices.

Prior to 2019, I didn't feel worthy to live in my truth, in my power and be the fearless conqueror God had truly meant for me to be. I desperately wanted love and connection, not fully understanding what it required of me, spiritually, mentally and physically. Being un-centered and un-balanced in my life caused me many years of mental suffering, enslaved to depression, mood disorders, anxiety, obesity, and poverty. Since 2019, My rehabilitation afforded me the opportunity to detox from unhealthy thoughts, toxic energies, and poor diet, so that I could become a stronger, more positive donor for causes that improve our planet and the human condition. I learned to love myself, reconnect with God, with Nature and realized ways to fight for diversity, equality, and inclusion.

Sadly, there are too many people in this country who suffer similarly because we've tried to conform to a culture of fear, shame and guilt...the ultimate mind-killers! We've all been conditioned to believe that we are not good enough, and we've criticized and persecuted ourselves (and each other) to the point of mental slavery, so disconnected from each other and essentially from God. We perpetuate these unhealthy habits in our upbringing, unbeknownst to the damages it creates in our foundational need to feel safe, to connect with others and to belong. Without safety, self-actualization is impossible. It has become my MISSION to, not only deconstruct my own thinking, unlearn fear, and to learn and serve Unconditional Love (which I have submitted is God himself), but to serve others in their journeys to self-discovery, self-mastery, holistic rehabilitation and healing.

Despite the challenges faced in 2020 and 2021, I remained committed to healing. I worked with women in drug rehabilitation; with vulnerable adults under community protection; and incarcerated youth. I continue to position myself to establish this dream, the dawn and development of CARE, which is now fully recognized as a nonprofit corporation. Our next goal is raising capital for farmland, the future farm resort, and headquarter for our summer program.

Christlike Agro-Tourism for Racial Equality (CARE) is devoted to activism, education and rehabilitation towards wellness and spiritual healing for African-Americans, people of color, and allies of equality. Historically, disparaging communities have suffered generational curses and trauma that have stained and stunted their emotional and spiritual growth. Like veterans who return home from war face mental and physical trauma, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), so have generations of African-Americans who have struggled to face a gauntlet of challenges within this American culture. We've tried succeeding within systems, built to oppress us, but without trust/faith, these relationships always waver. Dr. Joy DeGruy coins this African-American condition as "Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome" and details examples of this condition in her book. CARE has accepted the challenge of creating a sanctuary and healing space for people of color to detox from unhealthy habits and embrace the journey to healing while accessing CARE services.
